  • 2017 STORE UPDATES

    by Nick Taylor
    Wednesday 28th December 2016

  • Hello and welcome!

I hope you have had a great Christmas and that your stockings were full of gaming paraphernalia. As the year comes to an end I carry out an extensive review of the organised play, opening hours and stock choices throughout the store. This year is no different and over the coming weeks I'll be putting together articles on all of these areas. I'll be kicking things off with a lighter article on the store itself and the new hours of the store.

Come 2017 our opening hours will change to the following:

These hours will begin on Wednesday January 4th. So why the hour changes?

Monday hours allows us to process weekend orders a lot quicker than we have been able to recently. This also allows us to complete orders for the Chelmsford Magic Club on Monday evenings, meaning orders placed before 4pm can be processed and brought along. Finally it allows us to get the weekly schedules out on social media a day earlier.

As the store requires a day to be closed, the best option for this is Tuesday given we have no events scheduled and it tends to be the quietest day.

Wednesday and Friday will remain the same with Magic scheduled in the evening.

On Thursdays the store will now close at 7pm. X-Wing will regretfully be removed from the store evening schedule whilst Pathfinder will continue after store closes. More on how these changes will be outlined in their respective articles.

Saturdays now offer even longer hours! This allows us to run events for longer, run all day gaming sessions for various systems, offer longer board gaming days and offer up a number of evening sessions/side events.

Sunday hours will remain the same with some Sundays open for longer for events.

Further details of how this affects each gaming system will be released in various articles over the coming weeks.

There will be changes to the store relating to laying it out better, trying to create more space and have more visibility of events in store. On top of that I'll be working on a few projects I'm keen to put in place in the near future. Store rules will be reviewed, simplified and made more visible in store. Please do read the updated store rules and abide by them.

I'll be getting the stream set up again for coverage. I'll be kicking it off with Magic streams, the first of which will be the 21st January to coincide with the first Challenger Series event. The stream on the whole will remain the same as it has been in the past, but with changes to the overlay. The aim is to have this available for the FNMs and Challenger Series events with other events added when possible.

I'll also be putting together a lot more coverage of our events online meaning more photos, video coverage, standings and tournament reports. Notices regarding coverage will be added to the store and if you prefer not to have your picture taken or be on stream, then don't hesitate to let me know.

That's all for this article with more coming throughout the next few weeks. Each system will have an article related to it and I'll have an update of all other store related updates such as Facebook and the website.
